Our mission is to provide a rigorous, hands-on, and inclusive educational experience that combines academic learning with practical STEM opportunities. We celebrate diversity by offering choice and real-world connections. Our goal is for our students to develop the skills, confidence, and mindset necessary for excelling in higher education and 21st-century careers.

 To empower future leaders, global thinkers, and innovators to create positive change in healthcare and their communities through academic excellence, hands-on learning, and strong communication skills.

Priority/Focus Statement

At the heart of AMT High School's academic pursuits is a commitment to literacy and numeracy excellence. As we set forth on the 2023-2024 academic journey, we underscore our intent to refine teacher capabilities, employing "Corrective Reading" as a cornerstone for literacy and embracing "Illustrative Mathematics" as our standard-bearing curriculum for numeracy. Both interventions align to ensure that our students ascend the ladder of academic rigor from grades 6th through 12th and thrive in their post-secondary engagements. Our data-driven approach revealed significant milestones. Celebrating a notable achievement, our middle school students, guided by the robust framework of Illustrative Mathematics, displayed a remarkable decrease in Level 1 performance by nearly 30%. Additionally, the upward trajectory in Algebra I performance among our high school students was a testament to the efficacy of our chosen curriculum and instructional strategies. We intend to harness this momentum and further accelerate growth in the upcoming year. In our holistic educational spectrum, literacy remains a key pillar. With the Direct Instruction program of Corrective Reading, we ensure that our students receive sequenced, strategic lessons, transforming them into adept readers and confident learners. Simultaneously, our embrace of the "Think, Jot, Pair, Share" protocol to drive advance literacy skills, alongside the teacher inquiry centric "Plan, Do, Study, Act" inquiry approach, serves to continuously refine our pedagogical methodologies. At the core of AMT High School's educational focus lies a profound dedication to literacy and numeracy mastery, seamlessly merged with pioneering STEM endeavors. All these efforts align well under the new and ambitious "Stem in the South" initiative. As we embark on the 2023-2024 academic year we will aim to expand AMT’s depth of STEM work and preparing students for 21st careers and long term economic success.
